Maine Open Lighthouse DaySeptember 13 (9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.)With 65 active lighthouses along its coastline, the Pine Tree State is a popular destination for people who love these historic sites. Each year, the Maine Office of Tourism, the American Lighthouse Foundation and the United States Coast Guard sponsor Maine Open Lighthouse Day. You can visit more than a dozen sites and learn about their history during this event. In 2025, participants include the Burnt Coat Harbor Lighthouse (Swan's Island), Fort Point Lighthouse (Stockton Springs), Goat Island Lighthouse (Kennebunkport) and others. ![]() Waikiki HoolauleaSeptember 20 (6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.)This beachfront street festival and block party in Honolulu is a love letter to Hawai’ian cuisine, crafts and culture. Sample local cuisine from across Hawaii without having to visit different regions. Stay for entertainment, bands and award-winning hula dances. Take advantage of the free entry to connect with friends and neighbors. The city's Annual Floral Parade takes place later in the month. Austin City Limits Music FestivalOctober 3-5 and 10-12One of Austin’s largest and most well-known music festivals, Austin City Limits is a must for music fans. The 2025 festival takes place over two weekends in Zilker Park. See popular bands including Hozier, Sabrina Carpenter, Empire of the Sun, Luke Combs and Cage the Elephant. This festival also features some of the best food vendors in the city, so come hungry. Hudson Jazz FestivalOctober 3 – 5This festival pairs smooth, sultry music with the vibrancy of upstate New York in the fall. Located across venues, the Hudson Jazz Festival lets you experience some of the best funk, jazz and soul. Acts include the Julius Rodriguez Group, Joel Ross Gotham Kings and others. Albuquerque International Balloon FiestaOctober 4 – 12Albuquerque’s unique climate and weather patterns make it an exceptional location for the International Balloon Fiesta. This year’s event features the 25th annual America’s Challenge distance contest, balloon rides, chainsaw carving and lighted balloons in the evening.

From a giant pumpkin contest to the Flat Out Moto Stunt show, there is something for everyone at this festival in Massachusetts. Spend the day petting livestock, riding rides or sampling food. Stay for the lumberjack show and the horse pull. Festivals Acadiens et CréolesOctober 10 – 12Located at Girard Park in Lafayette, the Festivals Acadiens et Créoles celebrates Louisiana's Cajun and Creole culture through music, dancing and crafts. Along with a variety of musical acts, you can sample the best local cuisine at the Bayou Food Festival. Take a break from dancing to eat or watch cooking demonstrations.
